On episode 14, we have Victoria from New York. She was 40 years old when she gave birth to her first daughter.
Is it possible to get pregnant with PCOS?
Victoria’s journey started when she met her husband at 40 when she wasn’t even looking. She has been in aviation and found herself wanting to have her feet planted on the ground. She became a bar tender during her downtime, and she knew the moment her husband walked into the bar during her training. She has PCOS and had fibroid surgery, so she expected it to be difficult to get pregnant. She did get pregnant but miscarried. Two cycles later she found herself pregnant again. It took some time to have faith the pregnancy would last more than a few weeks. She found it hard not fall in love with the child growing inside her.
Victoria says she had PTSD after her miscarriage. She was traumatized every time she went to the restroom ready to expect the worst. She says she felt powerful and loved being pregnancy after she proved to herself that it was real. Victoria loved feeling her movements in her belly. She walked everywhere and thinks that really helped her have a smooth pregnancy.
Pregnancy at 40 was a crazy, beautiful, complex ride, but it’s worth it.
How did you think you would feel in your 40’s? Old, like you thought it was when you were young? Victoria doesn’t feel 40 and didn’t have any challenges during her pregnancy. It felt good. It’s parenting in your 40’s that she finds challenging. It’s been just her for so long and adding another person changed things.
Victoria is spiritually and physically connected to movement. She practiced prenatal yoga. The breath is everything she says. She said she got weird looks at the gym when you could see her baby bump, too. One of her walking trips she walked 6 miles at 8 months pregnant.
